Robert E Howe Sr. of Folcroft, PA, departed this life on March 6, 2022 at the age of 90 with his loved ones at his side. He was born in Chambersburg, PA to the late Bessie (Gladhill) and Russell Howe Sr. He was also predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years Nora (Feeley) Howe, son Robert E. Howe Jr., grandson Michael B. Howe Jr, great grandson Joshua M. Thomas Jr, sisters Ann English Howe, Mary Knight, Betty Sweeney, and Dorothy Gavetti, and brothers Russell Howe Jr, Richard Howe, and Donald Howe.
Bob went into the Marine Corps after high school and served as a Sergeant during the Korean War. After returning home, he was a butcher for Pantry Pride supermarkets before finding his true calling as an insurance salesman for numerous insurance agencies as well as a school bus driver for the Delaware County Intermediate Unit.
Bob had a deep love of life and a great sense of humor. He was at peace on his boat in the Chesapeake Bay and you only had to follow the sounds of laughter to find Bob. He always had that “Welcome Aboard” attitude with all. He greatly enjoyed his time as Commodore of the Outcast Yacht Club and their many adventures and his fun loving personality and strong leadership grew the club to its all-time high membership.
In his later years, Bob loved spending time with his friends and neighbors, playing bingo at the Sharon Hill Senior Center and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them grow. He would swell with pride when telling stories about their accomplishments in school and life in general.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and he is survived by son Michael B. (Colleen) Howe Sr., grandchildren Liza Howe, Megan (Jeff) Sammons, Tressa (Hector Bedolla) Howe, Robert E Howe III, great-grandchildren Michael, Josiah, Lincoln, Erin, Alina, Camila, and Brianna, Daughter-in-Law Sharon Howe, Brother Kenneth (Pat) Howe, Sister-in-Law Dolores Derrickson, nephew Jack (Elaine) Knight, and niece Nora (John) Clement who helped care for him, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Bob’s visitation on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 am in the Church of St. Gabriel, 233 Mohawk Ave, Norwood, PA 19074. Mass will begin at 11:00 am. Interment following Mass will be private at the request of the family.
