Monica Louise Mikelson, 58, of Lebanon, PA and long-time resident of Prospect Park passed away suddenly on December 17, 2021. She was born December 12, 1963 in Ridley Park, PA to the late Ronald & Mary Ann (Hartzell) Burch. She attended St. Gabriel’s School and graduated from Archbishop Prendergast. Her faith and family played important roles in her life.
Monica retired after 26 years of working at the Prospect Park Wawa. Monica greeted every customer with a smile and a cup of coffee! They may have entered as customers, but left feeling like family. She genuinely cared about them and wanted to check to see how they and their families were doing. She also worked at Harrah’s Casino in Chester, PA for 14 years, where she handled the races. When Monica wasn’t working, she was focused on caring for her husband, Kevin, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She loved visiting her daughter, Jessica and family in Oklahoma. She cherished her daily calls with Jess and every visit she had with her grandchildren Phoenix and Kevin. Monica was finally able to stop working just a few short months ago, so she could spend all of her time with her beloved husband, Kevin. Monica always had a smile on her face. Her sense of humor and kind, positive spirit will be greatly missed.
Monica is preceded in death by her father (d. 2008), mother (d. 1989) and sister, Beth Van Wyk (d. 2020).
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Kevin; child: Jessica (Bill) Sanders; grandchildren: Phoenix & Kevin; siblings: Dave (Donna) Burch, Doug Burch, Brian Van Wyk, Michelle (Rich) Johnson, Melissa (Bill) Freas, Jackie Malesky-Griffin and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Monica’s visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Church of St. Gabriel, 233 Mohawk Ave, Norwood, PA. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM.
There will be no burial.
