LeRoy Donald Porter Sr. (93)
June 3, 1928 – April 26, 2022
LeRoy Donald Porter Sr. passed peacefully at home with family by his side. LeRoy is predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Barbara, and his son David.
His motivations in life were serving God, obtaining knowledge, and having strong work ethics. A graduate of St. James High School, LeRoy joined the Army in 1946 as the last recruit in Delaware County under the W.W. II GI bill, serving most of his time in Korea. LeRoy majored in Agricultural Administration at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA and continued his education at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business.
Family, reading, gardening, nature, and hiking were his enjoyment in life. Climbing Mt. Katahdin (highest mountain in Maine 5,269 ft) once more at age 79 was a favorite journey. Family time with Dad, whether walking in the woods, visiting Longwood Gardens, enjoying family picnics or completing jigsaw puzzles together are memories that will be cherished.
LeRoy is survived by his three daughters: Barbara, Patricia, Debra, his son LeRoy, and their spouses; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to LeRoy’s viewing from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Cavanagh Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 12:30 PM. Interment will be private for family and extended family.
