Charles “Chuck” A. Kime, Jr. 84, passed away Monday March 14, 2022 at the Lankeneau Hospital in Lower Merion Twp., PA. He was born March 3, 1938 in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late Charles “Otts” A., Sr. & Delia (Conroy) Kime.
Chuck served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-1964, then spent much of his working life involved some way in the automotive field – mechanic, assembly line, auto paint sales – retiring as a parts counterman. He started an amateur auto racing career in the 1950s which continued into motorcycle racing during his time in the Air Force and into the 1970s. His lifelong interest in aircraft led to involvement, mostly post-retirement, in the Society of Aeronautic Modelers (SAM), where he flew Radio Control airplanes in international competition and worked as a flight officer at multiple national level events. He also mentored the aerospace engineering teams at Drexel and Widener Universities.
He was preceded in death by brother Larry Kime, sister Carol Hope, and brothers-in-law Joe Munster and Andy Smerigan.
Survivors include wife of 57 years Teresa “Tina” C. (McGuinness) Kime; sons Charles “Chuck Jr” A. Kime III and Andrew “Drew” M. Kime; Chuck’s son Alex; Drew’s wife Jenn and daughters Winnie, Anna, and Luna; sister-in-law Rita (Neiderriter) Kime; brother-in-law William “Don” D. Hope Jr; sisters-in-law Mary Lou (McGuinness) Munster, and Elizabeth “Betsy” (McGuinness) Smerigan; and a plethora of nieces and nephews
Family and friends are invited to attend Chuck’s viewing on Monday from 9:15 to 10:15 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Milmont Ave. Milmont Park, PA 19033. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
