Albert, a life long resident of Norwood, PA, passed away at Taylor Hospital on August 26, 2021.
Albert was born and raised in Norwood, PA. He also lived in Southwest Philadelphia then returned to Norwood, PA to raise his family.
Albert worked most of his life at Mrs. Smith’s Pies as a truck mechanic until his retirement. Albert then worked for Acme Markets in Clifton Heights until his final retirement.
Albert was a longtime member of Norwood United Methodist Church. While he lived in Philadelphia, he was a member of Westminster Church on 58th & Kingsessing Ave.
Albert was a veteran of the US Army who proudly served his time in Japan from November 1948 until August 1952 during the Korean War.
Albert was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan which he enjoyed watching with his wife and daughter.
Albert loved to go to Wildwood, New Jersey to visit his nieces Elaine Finno and Darlene Zach.
Albert was very well known in the neighborhood for having his relaxing days sitting on his swing or rocker with his wife enjoying the day. He was also well known wherever he went for his silly jokes, funny stories and his own songs he would just make up to be funny. Albert loved spending time with his daughter Violet and granddaughter Jennifer planting flowers and pulling weeds.
Albert was a kind and loving man that would help anyone who needed it.
Albert was a loving husband of 62 years to Eleanor Luther. Loving father to 4 children, Alice Sabre (Edward), Carol Laurina, Violet Luther, Martin Luther Sr. (Roberta). Loving grandpop to Jennifer Varner, Harrison Varner Jr., Martin Luther Jr., Allisa Anne Luther, and Zachary, Faith, Marcus, Hollie, Matthew, Emily, Anna, and Julia Sabre. Loving Great Grandpop to Mason McDonnell. Albert was also a loving Fur-Grandpop to Bear, Harley, Yoda, Buster, Cuddles, Curious Mama, and his favorite sidekick “Sam”, his African Grey Bird.
Albert was a loving son to the late Earl S. Luther Sr. and Rebecca Wallace Parker Luther. Loving brother to the late Betty Soles, Edith Yates, Earl S, Luther Jr., and his surviving sisters Gertrude Cuttingham and Mary Mae MacDonald. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Albert was a loving brother-in-law to the late Roy Dunhour, Lillian Finno, and surviving sister-in-law Florence Huff of New Jersey. Albert also had many loving and caring neighbors who looked out for him.
Friends and family are invited to his viewing and services for his celebration of life on Saturday September 4th at the Norwood United Methodist Church, 315 Chester Pike, Norwood PA from 9 AM to 11 AM, immediately followed by his service at 11 AM.
Interment in Fernwood Cemetery, 6501 Baltimore Pike, Lansdowne PA.
